Your privacy
The short version: there are no accounts, no adverts, no tracking cookies and no analytics on this site. We do not know who you are, and we do not try to find out.
What is kept on your device
A few things are saved in your own browser so the site works the way you left it. They stay on your phone or computer and are never sent to us:
- which animal you chose to follow you
- your spotter's list, and the date you ticked each animal
- your best quiz score
- the weather you last chose under "Try another sky"
- copies of the site's pages and any photos you have viewed, so the site still works with no signal
To remove all of it, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Nothing else is needed, because nothing is held anywhere else.
What we never collect
No names, email addresses, locations or contact details. There are no sign-up forms. The site does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and no visitor statistics service is installed.
The weather
The weather shown is for Macclesfield, Cheshire, where the site is made (pages about other parts of the world show the weather there instead: the Serengeti, the Arctic, the Amazon and so on). It is never based on where you are, and your location is never requested. Our server fetches the weather from Open-Meteo; if that fails, your browser asks Open-Meteo directly, and they would then see your internet address in the same way any website does.
Our hosting company
Like every website, the server that sends you these pages keeps a standard technical log of requests, which includes internet (IP) addresses. This is kept by our hosting company, Hostinger, for security and is not used by us to identify anyone.

Photo credits link to Wikimedia Commons and to the Creative Commons licences. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Children
The site is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
